How to Berg

cable car ends here. The mountain begins now.

The mountain is open to everyone—but it requires personal responsibility, caution, and realistic decisions.

Planning

If you can't read a map, you should at least keep an eye on the time—the last lift down won't wait for you.
Plan your route, duration, and return trip realistically.
Turning back is often the better decision. Overestimating your abilities rarely ends well.

Weather

The weather can change quickly.
When it starts to get dark up there, “just a quick one” is usually the wrong plan.
It’s better to watch thunderstorms from below.

Trail & Markings

Markings aren't placed there by chance.
They show the safe route and help with navigation.
Shortcuts rarely save time and increase the risk.

Equipment

Footwear is crucial.
Sturdy, with good traction, and suitable for hiking.
Sneakers aren't made for this.
Weatherproof clothing, a rain jacket, and plenty to drink belong in every backpack.

Self-Assessment

Go at a pace that's right for you.
Honestly assessing your fitness level and experience is part of staying safe.
