Dear guests, come up to Katrin!

I am Heli, the chamois. Normally I live far up the mountain, but today I came down the 1000 m to invite you into "our realm".

To help you find your way around in our world, where almost everything is quite different from here in the valley, we have put together 12 stations above. There you will find exciting stories about us animals on the mountain, mountain herbs and mountain forests, about glaciers and water, alpine pastures and protected areas, about the history of salt and last but not least about the history of the cable car.

Chamois Feuerkögerl

I invite you to explore my habitat with me! It is quite rare that a chamois comes to the valley. Many years ago, as the legend goes, when Ischl was still a fishing village, a chamois came down from the mountain and feasted on the juicy leaves of an ash tree at Kreuzplatz.

At that time, the village was still situated in a beautiful floodplain and the river Traun rushed through an ash forest. Unhindered by the villagers, the chamois then continued on its way. Even today, the chamois and the ash tree can be found in the Ischl town coat of arms.

We don't want you to think that there are only boards for reading upstairs. At each station you will find something to discover, play, smell, taste or explore.
