ENJOYABLE HIKING IN THE KATRIN NATURE RESERVE

The narrow, elongated Katergebirge offers hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers a fine and manageable selection of (circular) hiking trails.

From the lovely Feuer- and Rosenkögerl in the very east, towards the west to the imperial Katrin peak, beautiful Elferkogel and romantic Hainzen to the mighty Rosskopf, the network of trails extends, inviting you to explore.

  • Walking time: approx. 2.5 hours

  • Hiking trail: marked in blue

From the mountain station, head along the southern slope slightly uphill (trail no. 898) in the direction of Hainzen. The initially wide path soon turns into a steep path (surefootedness required / short rope safety). The way back is via the Elferkogel, the Katrin summit and via the serpentines down to the mountain station.

  • Walking time: approx. 1 hour

  • Hiking trail: marked in green

The hiking trail leads from the mountain station down to the Katrin alpine hut, followed by a leisurely half hour on to the "Trauntalblick" viewing platform. From there you have an overwhelming view of the Goiserer and Ischl valleys and the Dachstein.

You can either return to the mountain station along the same route or via the natural, wildly romantic path of the Rosen- und Feuerkögerl.
