Arrival by car

• Coming from Salzburg:

  Take the Bad Ischl West exit, then drive straight on into the center. At the McDonalds junction (ground marking!) turn right onto the Esplanade before the main bridge. Then follow the road for about 2.5 kilometers (green signs "Katrin cable car")

• Coming from Styria, Bad Goisern: 

  Exit Bad Ischl Süd, then straight on towards the Bad Ischl regional hospital. Drive straight past the hospital, down Grazerstraße and then turn left onto Traunkai. Follow the signs to the cable car .

• Coming from Gmunden/Ebensee:

  Coming from Ebensee, take the first exit on the right in the direction of Bad Ischl town center. At the traffic circle, take the first exit on the right in the direction of Götzstraße / Kreuzplatz. Follow the road until you reach the crossroads at Kreuzplatz. Turn left here into Wirerstraße and drive straight ahead in the right-hand lane. At the McDonalds junction (ground markings!), turn right onto Esplanade before the main bridge. Then follow the road for about 2.5 kilometers (green signs "Katrin cable car").

• Coming from Styria, Bad Goisern:

Coming from Bad Goisern, drive in the direction of Salzburg. Take the northern bypass to Bad Ischl (in the direction of the town center bus terminal). Buses to the Katrin cable car are permitted to drive through the town. From the bus terminal, turn left into Wirerstrasse via Kreuzplatz. At the McDonalds junction (ground markings!) turn right onto Esplanade before the main bridge. Then follow the road for about 2.5 kilometers (green signs "Katrin cable car").

• Coming from Gmunden/Ebensee:

By public transport

Public: From Bad Ischl train station continue with the city bus (line 552) to the Kaltenbach-Katrinseilbahn stop.

Please note that the city bus only runs on weekdays from Monday to Friday. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays NO city bus service!

On foot

From the town center, you can reach the Katrin cable car valley station in around 30 minutes on foot. First walk along the Esplanade, past Café Zauner and cross the Sissipark. Then go straight on past the climbing hall and the tennis courts. Then take the path on the right-hand side. Please follow the green signs "Fußweg Katrin cable car".
Walking time: approx. 30 minutes.
